Lenus Vietnam Partners with Viet Duc University Hospital to Promote Professional Exchange on Advanced Endoscopy for Early-Stage Gastrointestinal Cancer

14/10/2026

Detecting a lesion is only the first step in the management of early-stage gastrointestinal cancer. To determine the most appropriate treatment approach, physicians need to further assess surface characteristics, signs of invasion, and the feasibility of endoscopic intervention. These were the key clinical topics addressed at the scientific workshop held on October 9, 2026, at Viet Duc University Hospital, chaired by Dr. Chu Nhat Minh, MD, MSc, Head of the Endoscopy Department at Viet Duc University Hospital, with a scientific presentation delivered by Dr. Luo XiaoBei, MD, PhD, from Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University, China.

The workshop focused on the role of image-enhanced endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) in lesion assessment and clinical decision-making. Combining these diagnostic modalities provides physicians with additional information to characterize lesions, evaluate the depth of invasion, and consider appropriate treatment indications. In particular, for endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), accurate lesion selection and precise determination of indications are essential to developing an effective intervention strategy.

In addition to presentations covering the clinical pathway from lesion detection to treatment decisions, the workshop provided opportunities to discuss clinical cases through interactive discussions and live endoscopy demonstrations on patients. These activities helped connect diagnostic principles with clinical practice, highlighting how information obtained from endoscopic imaging can inform lesion assessment and treatment selection for individual cases.

As sponsors of the program, Lenus Vietnam and Olympus supported the workshop, contributing to the dissemination of professional knowledge and the advancement of academic exchange in gastrointestinal endoscopy. Lenus Vietnam and Olympus recognize and appreciate the ongoing efforts of specialists and physicians to update their technical knowledge, share clinical experience, and improve clinical practice, with the aim of optimizing the detection, assessment, and treatment of early-stage gastrointestinal cancer.
