Lenus Vietnam Accompanies Military Hospital 175 in Connecting International Expertise and Advancing Early Detection of Gastrointestinal Cancer

On September 15, 2026, Military Hospital 175 successfully organized the scientific workshop “Advanced Imaging Technologies in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy – From Theory to Clinical Optimization” in collaboration with Olympus and Lenus Vietnam, bringing together a large number of gastrointestinal endoscopists from both within and outside the hospital.

In his opening remarks and as Chair of the Workshop, Senior Colonel, Assoc. Prof. PhD, MD. Dao Duc Tien – Deputy Director of Military Hospital 175 – emphasized the importance of continuing medical education in enhancing professional expertise and quality of care, while affirming the hospital’s commitment to training programs with high clinical applicability and to expanding domestic and international professional collaboration.

At the workshop, MSc, MD. Tran Minh Tuan – Head of the Endoscopy Department – provided an update on the Department’s activities and development orientation, with the goal of building a modern endoscopy unit that delivers safe, effective, and comprehensive patient care.

The scientific focus of the program was a series of lectures by Prof. Kenshi Yao, MD, PhD – Chikushi Hospital, Fukuoka University, Japan – on the application of NBI, magnifying endoscopy, and four fundamental techniques for the diagnosis of early gastric cancer. Drawing on his extensive expertise and significant contributions, including the VS Classification and the SSS method, Prof. Yao provided a systematic approach to observing and analyzing microvascular and microsurface patterns, as well as identifying lesion demarcation lines through real-world clinical images.

The afternoon hands-on session was highly engaging, with Prof. Yao providing direct guidance using an endoscopy simulator. In particular, under Prof. Yao’s expert supervision, the participating physicians directly assessed two suspected gastric cancer cases, creating a practical bridge between theoretical knowledge and clinical application.

The workshop concluded with valuable and practical professional insights, promoting medical education, academic exchange, and international collaboration. It also provided a foundation for Department A3.a and the Hospital to further strengthen their capabilities in the detection and early diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancers, with the aim of achieving better treatment outcomes for patients.
