VGEC 2026: Where knowledge, tachnology and clinical practice converge
On April 17–18, 2026, at the 108 Military Central Hospital, the 10th Vietnam Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Conference (VGEC 2026) was successfully held, attracting more than 1,000 delegates, including leading experts, physicians, and nurses in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy from both Vietnam and abroad. The conference was jointly organized by the Vietnam Federation for Digestive Endoscopy (VFDE), the Vietnam Association of Gastroenterology (VNAGE), and 108 Military Central Hospital. VGEC 2026 once again affirmed its role as a prestigious scientific forum, contributing to the advancement of gastrointestinal endoscopy in Vietnam.
At this year’s conference, Olympus continued to serve as the Diamond Sponsor, demonstrating its long-term commitment to enhancing diagnostic and therapeutic quality in gastrointestinal endoscopy. In collaboration with Olympus, Lenus Vietnam participated in VGEC 2026 as a professional connector, facilitating access for physicians and nurses to advanced training programs and cutting-edge endoscopic techniques, thereby bridging academic activities with clinical practice.
The scientific program was comprehensively designed, featuring thematic presentations, clinical discussions, continuing medical education (CME), as well as live demonstrations and hands-on training sessions. The program focused on advancements in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, particularly in the early detection of gastrointestinal cancers and the application of advanced endoscopic technologies. Notably, this was the first conference to host the largest number of international experts, including participants from the United States, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom, enhancing both academic depth and global perspectives.Key highlights of the conference included:
Live case sessions: Conducted across three endoscopy suites with participation from both domestic and international experts, showcasing advanced interventional techniques such as Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), enabling real-time observation and on-site professional exchange.
Hands-on training programs: Organized at dedicated training stations with Olympus equipment support, where participants practiced directly on MIKOTO simulation models under expert guidance.
Thematic presentations and clinical discussions: Focused on endoscopy in precancerous lesions, early gastrointestinal cancers, and magnifying endoscopy, providing updated knowledge and practical insights from both national and international experts.
With its expanding scale, enriched content, and increasing scientific rigor, VGEC 2026 continues to reinforce its position as one of the leading scientific conferences in gastrointestinal endoscopy, contributing to the orientation and enhancement of clinical practice in the context of modern medicine.
